Heather Acton is from Chicago IL. She was on track to have the perfect life, and then everything went sideways, so she made her own path.

While I had followed the blueprint for security, success, and happiness, I didn’t feel like I had achieved any of these things. I felt isolated at work. At home, I felt valued only if I were functioning as the perfect wife and mom… Fast-forward to today. I couldn’t be more thankful for the life journey I’m on.

Kim Parsell Memorial Scholarship for WordCamp US 2023

Kim Parsell was a beloved member of the WordPress community. She passed a few years ago, but is well remembered. I asked some of her friends to write her HeroPress story a while back.

There’s a scholarship in her honor for a full ride to WordCamp US for someone who:

  • Identifies as a woman
  • Is a WordPress contributor
  • Has never attended WordCamp US before
  • Requires financial assistance to attend
